I just installed a set of Grover locking Rotomatics. This is the first set of the locking Rotomatics I have used The box said drill .391" dia. Nothing new there, chuck up a 10mm and away I went. Six holes drilled in flash. Now install them allign them and drill the mount screw holes. What!! They'r loose!! Double checked the hole dia. the finished hole is .393" dia. Now I checked the collar on the tuner .382". Any one ever run in to this before. Every set of Grover's I have used have worked perfect with 10mm hole. Heck their box even said "drill .391" Dia. |

Sorry Michael. I haven't used the locking type. Normally I drill using a 3/8 inch bit, then switch to the reamer to finish. On my reamer is a piece of blue masking tape. That is where the final size is for the standard tuner. But, I confess, I don't measure at all either. I simply use the tuner to tell me if the size is right, trial and error, eliminates the error part. Hopefully you won't have to fill and redrill. maybe a little dust and ca in the hole will give you the fit you need? |
